The Design Shop was founded by George Fardy in 1967.  His son David joined in 1983. The  business is located in Newton, Massachusetts, near Boston and Cambridge.

The Design Shop is a full-service design, fabrication, model and prototype shop.  We specialize in precision custom-made devices and installations, R&D projects, repairs, modifications and short-run production, servicing a wide range of clients in government, academia, and private industry.

The Design Shop is strong in personal service.  We will be in contact personally to make sure you get the best product as efficiently as possible.  From a worn pulley or shaft repair, to a fast-track engineering prototype, we will work with you to create what you need.
